Govern AI, don't ban it: Arxia joins the 'Gobierna tu IA' panel on Shadow AI
By Carlos Parker · Head of International Business

While organisations debate whether to implement AI, their teams are already using it — and leadership often doesn't know. That is Shadow AI, and on 2 April it was the subject of the first episode of "Gobierna tu IA", an open webinar series on AI governance.
The problem with prohibition
AI adoption is moving faster than internal policies can keep up with. The instinctive reaction of many companies is to ban it. But a ban does not stop use; it pushes it into the shadows, where it exposes the organisation to security risks, data loss and compliance gaps that nobody is tracking.
What the panel covered
Arxia's Carlos Parker joined a panel of leaders in AI governance and security — Eric Vargas, Gustavo Venegas and Edison Vásquez Droguett — to work through three questions:
- What Shadow AI really is, and why it operates under the radar.
- The risk map: its quiet but very real impact on corporate security.
- Strategy: how to put controls in place that protect the organisation without suffocating innovation.
Governance at the centre of adoption
The conclusion fits Arxia's approach to AI adoption: the goal is not to forbid AI, but to govern it. Clear policies, data governance and traceable use are what let teams use AI openly and safely. This thinking later shaped Arxia's partnership with Gobierna Tus Datos to strengthen the data-governance side of its AI Accelerator offer.
